Harnessing Growth: Yarramalong Horse Stud’s 3 Shed Solution

  11 Apr 2024 7:00 am

Richard Foster owns and operates Yarramalong Horse Stud, located in Southeast Queensland. Specialising in breeding yearlings for the thoroughbred world, the stud annually sells its stock at the Magic Millions Complex in January and March. With five full-time staff, responsibilities include preparing horses for sales, managing reproduction, and maintaining the farm.

Due to the rapid expansion of the business, Richard found it necessary to install a horse walker. Sheds n Homes provided a cover for the walker which was crucial for providing shade for the horses. Richard emphasises the importance of shade, stating, “Because we sometimes work the horses during the heat of the day, shade is very important.” View more details on the cover here.

Sheds n Homes also assisted with a large shed for a water bottling plant on the farm, producing Pure Oz bottled water. Richard notes, "It's a mineral water of high standard, and we needed to have a shed to put the new plant into.” View details of the shed here.

In addition to these two structures, the growth of Yarramalong Horse Stud needed further infrastructure development. Richard elaborates, " The third one was a shed for our machinery. As often happens on farms, your machinery level increases dramatically, and you've got to put them under cover. So, we needed some more bays to put machines in." Responding to an advertisement led Richard to connect with Scott from Sheds n Homes Gold Coast. Richard, with his rural background, reflects, "I'm a bush boy in the background, so I usually read people fairly well, and Scott's been very helpful."

Richard commends Scott's service, stating, "He was very prompt on his responses and answered our questions fully and produced a price which was competitive. Therefore, it was plain sailing for us to appoint him."

The sheds provided by Sheds n Homes not only serve a practical purpose but also blend harmoniously with the natural landscape. Richard remarks, "They're green, of course, which fits in with the landscape, and we hope it's always green around them." He adds, "New sheds look better than old tired sheds, and these ones have presented fairly well, I feel. I wouldn't be unhappy with them at all."
